Park Notice
A severe storm occurred at Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park on June 21, 2025. The storm, which included a microburst, resulted in extensive tree damage and hazardous conditions. Because of the magnitude of damage, Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park will remain closed for the 2025 season.
As a result, your reservation will need to be changed to another park where availability exists or cancelled. To make a change or to cancel your upcoming reservation please contact our call centre at 1-888-668-7275 (open daily; 7am-9pm ET) and speak with a reservation agent, no change or cancellation fees will apply.
Please contact the Ontario Parks call centre at 1-888-668-7275 (open daily 7:00 am – 9:00 pm) to cancel or modify your reservation by 9:00 pm ET on July 30, 2025.
If we have not heard from you by 9:00 pm ET on July 30, your reservation will be automatically cancelled, and you will receive a full refund. Please allow up to ten business days for your refund to appear on your credit card statement.
We understand that this closure will affect your plans and apologize for the inconvenience. You may be interested in our ‘Availability Notifications’ feature which directly emails you if a campsite becomes available for the park and dates that interest you. Simply click the green ‘Notify Me’ button when searching for a reservation to set up your notifications.

Amable du Fond River Provincial Park
Due to a severe storm on June 21, Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park is closed for the remainder of the 2025 season.
As such, the Amable du Fond River is closed and inaccessible north of Highway 17 as it enters Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park.

Mattawa River Provincial Park
Due to a severe storm on June 21, Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park is closed for the remainder of the 2025 season.
As such, the Campion Rapids access point is closed as an entry or exit point to the Mattawa River. The Campion Rapids portage remains open for people paddling the Mattawa River.
The Amable du Fond River is closed and inaccessible between Highway 17 and where it enters the Mattawa River at Campion Rapids.
