Many anglers know that Brook Trout move between lakes and rivers in the spring and fall, but just how far and often Brook Trout move is not as well understood. Join Darren to learn about a long-term Brook Trout tracking study that has revealed many new insights into Brook Trout habitat use across Algonquin Park.

This special event is hosted by The Friends of Algonquin Park and The Algonquin Forestry Authority. Loggers Day is dedicated to honouring the rich history of logging in Algonquin Provincial Park. Prepare to immerse
yourself in a day filled with exciting activities, interactive historic re-enactments, and educational exhibits which provide a glimpse into Algonquin’s past.
Join us from 12:00pm to 2:00pm (or while quantities last) for an old-time logger’s lunch of beans & potatoes, fried bologna, homemade bread, dessert & a drink - $15 per person. Event runs from 10:00am - 3:00pm. Algonquin Logging Museum Entrance Building (at km 54.5).

Join Michael for a highly visual presentation of his intimate observations of these elusive animals, including a behind-the-scenes look at his and his wife’s Britta’s involvement with the wolf segment of David Attenborough’s “Secret World of Sound” documentary. Algonquin Wildlife Research Station invites you to spend time with the researchers who use Algonquin as their laboratory. Meet those who study reptiles, amphibians, birds, small mammals, fish, wolves, and even humans (through archaeology). A barbeque (12pm - 2pm, or while quantities last) is hosted by The Friends of Algonquin Park in support of research in Algonquin. Don’t miss the draws for great prizes! 10:00am - 3:00pm. In this program you’ll have the opportunity to learn about some of Ontario’s most incredible hunters, and to meet the birds up close. If you have binoculars or a telescope, please feel free to bring them along! You will have the opportunity to observe astronomical phenomena together such as Saturn, galaxies, star clusters, and nebulae. Please do not use flashlights or headlamps when joining the event as white light rapidly destroys night vision! Red light flashlights/headlamps are acceptable. This event is weather dependent and will not take place if there is rain or if the sky is very cloudy. This event takes place on the nights of August 28th, 29th, and 30th from 8:00pm - 10:00pm.
