Join Park Naturalists on the Riverside Trail for a bird watching bash. In this 1-1.5 hour program, we will see how many species of birds we can see, hear, and identify. This program will cater to all levels of birding expertise as the most important thing to bring for birding is yourself! Binoculars are provided.

I suck! says the mosquito. You suck! Says the tick. We ALL suck! Says the leech. Despite this unfortunate occurrence, these blood-sucking critters are just being themselves. Join a Park Naturalist to learn how this part of a life cycle is vital for ecosystem functioning. This program is intended for younger audiences, although all are welcome. Please meet at the Visitor Centre.

Did you know that the dragonflies we see darting around actually spend most of their lives underwater? Hike the Riverside Trail and find a Park Naturalist to learn about dragonflies throughout all stages of their lives. Turn left at the fork for easy access.

Did you know that there’s life after death in the forest? Many creatures, big and small, depend on dead trees for habitat and food. Join a Park Naturalist at the Visitor Centre to find out which of Pinery’s creatures rely on dead wood, how they use it, and the evidence they leave behind. A game and outdoor activity following story time will show you how to be a forest detective! This program is intended for younger audiences, although all are welcome.

The coyote with its long, haunting call gets a bit of a bad reputation. Join a Park Naturalist to explore why coyotes are some of the most family-oriented mammals in all of North America! Please meet at the Park Store.

They say April showers bring May flowers, but there’s blossoms and blooms all season long! Meet a Park Naturalist on the Riverside Trail to learn about some of the wildflowers in bloom in Pinery, and some unique strategies they use to survive. Turn left at the fork near the trail entrance and walk 50 meters to your first clearing.

The event hub will be outside of the Park Store, where you can explore nature-themed booths and activities, see the creation of Pinery-inspired art, and much more!
