It’s your first day as a Park Ranger: you put on your boots and arrive for training. What do you think they’ll teach you? Come to the Chalet to learn some important skills for being a Ranger. Note: This is a drop-in style program. Naturalists will be at the Chalet for the duration of the scheduled time.

Fearsome fangs, a haunting call in the night, a nightmare slithering through the grass… some animals have a bad reputation, but do they really deserve it? This begs the question; why can’t we be friends? Meet a naturalist at the Wilderness Trail. This is not a designated accessible trail, please be prepared for uneven terrain.

Did you know that there’s life after death in the forest? Many creatures, big and small, depend on dead trees for habitat and food. Join a Park Naturalist at the Visitor Centre to find out which of Pinery’s creatures rely on dead wood, how they use it, and the evidence they leave behind. A game and outdoor activity following story time will show you how to be a forest detective! This program is intended for younger audiences, although all are welcome.

I suck! says the mosquito. You suck! Says the tick. We ALL suck! Says the leech. Despite this unfortunate occurrence, these blood-sucking critters are just being themselves. Join a Park Naturalist at the Visitor Centre indoor theatre to learn how this part of a life cycle is vital for ecosystem functioning. What lives in the channel? Find out for yourself! Meet Park Naturalists, get ‘oozy and goozy,’ and explore the aquatic life and history of the Old Ausable Channel. Fishing hooks are often found at this dock, so please wear close-toed shoes. Lifejackets are required to go in the water and will be provided. Location: Dock across the bridge from rentals.
