What lives in the channel? Find out for yourself! Meet Park Naturalists at the Park Store Dock, get ‘oozy and goozy,’ and explore the aquatic life and history of the Old Ausable Channel. Fishing hooks are often found at this dock, so please wear close-toed shoes. Lifejackets are required to go in the water and will be provided.

Pedal the Savanna Bike Trail with Park Naturalists and learn about Pinery's Oak Savanna and some of its inhabitants. Rent one of our bikes or bring your own. The bike hike will be leaving at 10:00 AM from the rentals building. If you are renting a bike, please allow time to stand in line.

Many visitors are familiar with mosquitoes and ticks, but few realize that there are many other parasites that can be found in the park. Join a Park Naturalist at the Park Store to learn about the fascinating world of parasites, including ticks, worms, mites, and microscopic organisms!

Become a wildlife detective and discover the hidden stories of the forest! Learn how to identify tracks, scat, feeding signs, and other clues that reveal the animals living in the park. Join us on Riverside trail for this one-hour guided hike to see the park through the eyes of a naturalist.

The life of a caterpillar is by no means an easy one! Join a Park Naturalist at the entrance of the Cedar Trail to learn the tricks they use to disguise and defend themselves in order to dodge predators until they can reach the next life stage.

It’s your first day as a Park Ranger: you put on your boots and arrive for training. What do you think they’ll teach you? Come to the Chalet to learn some important skills for being a Ranger. Note: This is a drop-in style program. Naturalists will be at the Chalet for the duration of the scheduled time.

Sunsets over Lake Huron at Pinery are renowned for their majestic beauty. The beaches and dunes of Pinery are also dynamic ecosystems that house rare species, enchanting us in other ways. Find inspiration as you walk along the beach with a Park Naturalist to explore the landscape, then merge art and science by painting as the sun sets over the lake. Supplies are limited and may need to be shared among participants. This program is intended for adults, although all are welcome. Meet at P9 picnic pavilion.

Experience the Old Ausable Channel right from the water! Join Park Naturalists at the Park Rentals building for a paddle along the channel and learn about the species that call it home. Rent one of our canoes or bring your own. Please arrive by 9:15 AM if renting a canoe or kayak.

Pinery isn’t a place, it is a community. Come and gather with fellow Pinery visitors at the Chalet area. There will be puzzles and board games, space to run around, and a cozy campfire. Limited picnic table seating is available. Feel free to bring your own camp chairs or blankets for extra comfort.
