Beauty may be in the eye of the beholder, but it’s hard to deny the beauty of wildflowers. Get up close and personal with these tiny wonders – examine their colours, count their petals, and admire their shapes. Take your time, breathe in the fresh air, and let their beauty spark your creativity.

Come by the Main Beach for a tour of the night sky. Against the backdrop of George Lake, travel from constellation to constellation, picking up star stories and night sky orientation skills as you go. We recommend bringing a camp chair or towel for seating.

Drop in at the Observatory anytime between 2:00 and 4:00 pm to meet Astronomer in Residence Julie Tome and observe the sun through the telescope. Learn about the solar cycle, sunspots, and more details on our closest star.

Observatory programs are cancelled in the event of cloudy skies.

Finding the park observatory – From the main entrance, walk to the end of the parking lot and take the trail to the left of the bear signs. This will lead you to a gravel parking lot, then further to the telescope domes.

The Observatory is only open to the public during programs.

Laurentian University, the Vale Living with Lakes Center, and Killarney Provincial Park have done decades of research together to investigate Killarney’s lakes. Drop by the Nature Centre to meet some of these experts and talk about fish, frogs, stream invertebrates, plankton, and more! Pick up a passport and visit all the researchers to earn a prize.

Gaze through the telescope and see the wonders of Killarney’s pristine dark skies. To get the most out of the starry night, keep your phones and flashlights tucked away. Directions to the observatory can be found below.
