Important rules and Information

Can and Bottle Ban: No person shall possess any non burnable food or beverage containers. Exceptions are containers that are specifically designed and intended for repeated use and for which no deposit is charged; or that are specifically designed for dehydrated foods.

Pack in, Pack out and Take Home Garbage: Please use the yellow litter bags to pack out and take home all garbage. There are no garbage collection facilities anywhere in the park or at access points.

Camp on Designated Campsites Only: You may only camp on your assigned campsite. In the event of an emergency (i.e. severe weather), there are a number of campsites throughout the park identified by a blue sign with the wording “Emergency Use Only”. Temporarily occupy one of these campsites and notify park staff as soon as possible to the change to your trip plan.

No Excessive Noise: The use of amplified stereo devices is prohibited. Please respect other park users and keep the noise level to a minimum. Be aware of how easily sound travels over water.

Fires in Designated Fire Rings Only: All fires must be within designated steel fire rings, and should be small, under control and monitored at all times. During a fire ban, no fires are permitted.

No Cutting of Live Growth: It is illegal to cut live growth in the park.

Permits Required All Year: The park is open all year, therefore permits for camping are required for off season and winter camping.

Generators and Chainsaws: The use of chainsaws, gasoline generators or similar devices is prohibited. Exception to this rule apply to private landowners and recreation camps.

Live Baitfish Ban: To protect park waters from invasive species, the possession or use of live baitfish is prohibited. Check the Ontario Fishing Regulations Guide for licence requirements, seasons and special fishing regulations if you are angling in the park.

Private Property: Some portages pass near private property, and many cottages and recreation camps are along canoes routes. Be respectful and do not trespass.
