| The Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, 2006 states that by the fifth anniversary of the act, all protected areas must have a management statement (less complex) or management plan (more complex). Below is a list of protected areas where planning is in progress.
Protected area planning requires public consultation throughout the process. Input from the people interested in the outcome of our management decisions is important.
If you would like to become involved, contact your local protected area, or Ministry of Natural Resources office, and check your local newspapers for advertisements outlining the date, time and location of future events.
Your input could be as simple as providing oral or written comments. It also could involve taking part in a protected area information centre, open house or public meeting. Either way, your comments will be recorded for consideration during plan or statement preparation.
Whatever means you use, consider the questions: "What are the heritage values and recreational activities requiring special protection and management?" and "How best can this be accomplished?"
